Hands at Work

In 2005 an influential South African foundation predicted that Hands at Work, then caring for 9000 orphans and vulnerable children, would be one of the three largest South African aid and development organisations by 2010. An honour? Comparing the 9000 being reached to the forecasted 3 million in SA by 2010, it was a wake-up call: more must be done. By 2010 there could be 40 million orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa.

And the vision of reaching 100,000 children by 2010 was born.

The biblical mandate to care for the orphans, widows, and the dying is not only for the church in Africa, but also for the church outside of Africa, where we have been blessed to be a blessing. The desire for Hands at Work in Africa in the US is then to challenge churches across America to answer the cry of God’s people by participating in God’s amazing story of healing in Africa. Like Team Mozambique, won’t you come and participate in God’s transforming work? Won’t you consider how you can be an advocate on behalf of the vulnerable? Won’t you partner with this team on your knees? Won’t you give to the “Moz Bore Hole Project”, and be a blessing to bring clean water to the Rubitano community?
